Dear Goizueta alumni and friends,

As 2006 and my presidency of the Goizueta Business School Alumni Association wind down, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the achievements of the association.

Working with the board has been a great experience. Since I joined in 1998, the board has grown tremendously in terms of understanding its responsibility to alumni and the strategic vision of the school.

Our involvement with the annual fund has been a particular highlight. With assistance from the school’s development community, we’ve learned the value of the annual fund and how it impacts the school operationally. In the process, we’ve embraced our own fiduciary responsibility and realized the importance of engaging our classmates and other alumni in becoming financial stewards of the school.

The value of giving back is its own incentive. The ability to make a difference to future students by ensuring they receive the same kind of value in their education is paramount. It’s the reason I joined the association and the reason members invest their time and effort in working with the school and alumni.

Keeping alumni engaged is also the impetus behind a new initiative called “Class Correspondents.” The association is seeking individuals from each class year and each program to serve as liaisons between their class and the alumni association. A correspondent’s role is to disseminate information about events, possibly attend events in their own cities and, if willing, travel to other cities. Other schools have similar programs, and the association views this approach as a great way to foster interaction, heighten awareness, and provide a vehicle for alumni to share their views and successes.

If you are interested in becoming a class correspondent, please contact Samantha Renfro at alumni@bus.emory.edu.

Finally, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Chip Gross 97MBA, who was elected president of the association for the 2006-2008 term.

With many exciting initiatives on deck, including the development of new chapters in locations such as Los Angeles, Chicago, South Florida and Washington, D.C., I look forward to supporting Chip and the alumni association to better serve you and Goizueta.

Regards,

Bill Brosius 85BBA
