NDR database now available

Goizueta students and faculty now have access to one of the top financial information databases, thanks to the generosity of Edwin and Barbara Mendel and Ned Davis Research (NDR), an institutional investment research and advisory firm located in Atlanta and Venice, Florida. Goizueta is the only school in the country to carry NDR on a pro bono basis; only a handful of schools can offer their students hands-on experience on this premier research tool.

Access to the NDR database is above and beyond the Mendel’s $100,000 commitment to Goizueta. Approximately $90,000 of these funds will establish a scholarship endowment for MBA students. The remaining $10,000 will fund a computer workstation in the business library. Goizueta faculty and staff have yet to put a price tag on the in-kind database access.

“The database provides a range of information and level of analysis of information and data that is not available through our current resources,” says Susan Klopper, manager of research services for Goizueta Business Library.

“This is a really powerful source of data for students,” says Assistant Professor of Finance T. Clifton Green. He stresses that NDR is “a notch” above its competitors due to both the quality and scale of its information, especially the charts and graphics it offers.

Jeffrey A. Busse, associate professor in finance, is using the database in his fall semester Applied Investment Management class. “This will give students experience on the tools they’ll be using in the workplace, and they’ll have a jumpstart on students from other schools,” Busse says.
