Dear Goizueta alumni and friends,
Happy 2005! The arrival of a new year is often greeted with excitement and celebration. As members of the Goizueta community, we have much to celebrate this year. Let me take this opportunity to reflect on some recent accomplishments and share some of what is to come in this New Year.
In October, the full-time MBA Program advanced two spots to number twenty among the nation’s full-time MBA programs, according to BusinessWeek’s 2004 rankings. Goizueta was ranked first in leadership and is the only new school in the top twenty. The BusinessWeek rankings of full-time MBA programs are considered among the most important for a business school. This new ranking gives national and international exposure to the hard work, growth, and academic excellence that is Goizueta.
In December, Lawrence Benveniste was named the new dean of Goizueta. For more on his background, see the story on page 3. We look forward to welcoming Larry to the Goizueta family soon.
This year, we also celebrate two milestones for several of our programs. Goizueta’s first MBA class—the MBA Class of 1955—will celebrate its 50th Reunion and the school’s first Executive MBA class—the EMBA Class of 1980—will celebrate its 25th Reunion with a number of signature events, including a private reception at the Annual Alumni Awards Dinner on May 13.
Goizueta will expand its current facility with a $33.4 million project called The Goizueta Foundation Center for Research and Doctoral Education. This new building will house Goizueta’s Doctoral Program and research centers, along with the Executive MBA Program and Executive Education. The facility is a reflection of the school’s growing commitment to research. The facility will open in July of this year and the official building dedication and ribbon cutting will be held on September 28.
If you have not had an opportunity to return to campus, we encourage you to visit and join in the excitement. And, as always, if you’ve moved or change jobs, please take a minute and update your record at http://www.goizueta.emory.edu/alumni/update_address.html or call Lisa Dupre in our office at 404.727.6938.
Sincerely,
Natalie Miranda
Director, Alumni Relations
