The Kodak team won first place in the 2001–2002 Goizueta Marketing Strategy Competition. Team members are Carrie Simon ’97C-’03MBA, Harold Goings ’03MBA, Jeff Cook ’03MBA, Jodi Falkenthal ’03MBA, Leigh Cook ’03MBA, and Santiago Arboleda ’03MBA.

Winning second place in this year’s Goizueta Marketing Strategy Competition was the Lithonia Lighting team: Alex Hill ’03MBA, Chris Miller ’03MBA, David Jiang ’03MBA, Nick Gurnick ’03MBA, Rene Kwame ’03MBA, Scott Doyne ’03MBA, and Sameer Khetarpal ’02MBA and Asim Thakur ’02MBA of the Indian School of Business. Earning third place was the Southern Company team: Alexandra Duran ’03MBA, David Barrett ’03MBA, Hemal Saraiya ’03MBA, Jayen Shah ’03MBA, Kevin Kastner ’03MBA, Lisa Russell ’03MBA, and Ajay Bhaskar ’02MBA and Rahul Shankhe ’02MBA of the Indian School of Business.

For jointly producing the CIO Academy, Goizueta Executive Education won the Higher Education-Innovative Business Models Award as part of the eLearning Success Awards presented by eLearning Magazine.



Justin McCall ’02BBA (above) was promoted to sergeant in the U.S. Marines Corps. McCall, a marine since graduating from high school, is currently a squad leader within a platoon and is responsible for twelve marines.

David Roemer ’02BBA has received Emory’s Humanitarian Award, and the Robert T. Jones Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund Award, which provides for a year of study at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Roemer is founder and president of the Apple Student Core @ Emory, an organization that uses technology to enhance Emory and the community. He is also co-captain of Emory’s golf team.

Ajay Kohli, Isaac Stiles Hopkins Professor of Marketing, is the first winner of the Sheth Foundation/Journal of Marketing Award, honoring the best article published between six and ten years ago. The award recognizes Kohli’s 1993 article with Bernie Jaworski, “Market Orientation: Antecedents and Consequences.” The main criterion for the award is long-term impact on the field of marketing in research
and practice.

Sonia Parra Zuña ’02MBA was named “Student of the Year” by the National Society of Hispanic MBAs-Atlanta Chapter. The networking organization promotes leadership of Hispanics through graduate management education, professional development, community involvement, and career growth.




The Fall 2001 issue of Goizueta Magazine won an Award of Excellence for Overall Design from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.



Kimberly-Clark Scholar Alexandra Duran ’03MBA with Robert Abernathy, group president, Business to Business, Kimberly-Clark.

Alexandra Duran ’03MBA received the 2001 Kimberly-Clark Scholarship and was honored during a luncheon hosted by the company in February. Duran’s MBA concentration is in marketing and strategy.

Lowell Kahn ’03MBA was awarded the Albert J. Bows Scholarship at a luncheon this winter. The scholarship is awarded each year to a full-time MBA student. Lowell is enrolled in the joint MD/MBA program, and his concentration is organization and management.
