Dear
alumni and friends,
The end of the academic year is often a time to reflect.
For Goizueta Business School, this was a very good year.
Our students exhibited unmatched leadership skills. Our academic programs
fared very well in national and international rankings. Our alumni continued
to make us proud because of their outstanding professional and personal
achievements. We completed the outline of our five-year Strategic Plan
Goals. And, we are busy recruiting and hiring additional stellar faculty.
For those who havent visited campus in recent years, the fall dedication
of The Goizueta Foundation Center for Research and Doctoral Education
will be a good opportunity to do so. (Please see story "Forward
Motion" for date.)
Our new dean is Larry Benveniste, the current dean
of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. This
spring, Larry and I have worked closely to ensure a smooth leadership
transition this summer. His knowledge of higher education and his commitment
to Goizueta Business Schools continued growth are just two of the
many reasons that Larry will be an outstanding leader for Goizueta. It
has been a pleasure and a privilege working with him, and Im looking
to his arrival on July 1.
As my tenure as interim dean ends, I am grateful for this opportunity.
Serving as interim dean has been a wonderful experience. I am happy that
Larry has asked me to take on a new challengeas vice dean. I am
looking forward to playing a role in shaping the schools strategic
direction.
Thank you for your suggestions and for your continued support as we move
forward.
Sincerely,
Maryam Alavi
Interim Dean
The John and Lucy Cook Chair of Information Strategy
